John grew up fishing on Lake Erie with his dad, and he fished every creek, stream and river he could find. Wherever he has lived, worked, or travelled, fishing has always been a big part of his life. John fishes two Outer Banks tournaments every year, off Ocracoke and Hatteras, and during the winter, he and his wife, Pamela, fish the Abacos in the Bahamas.
In 1968, Captain John began fishing Lake Michigan salmon in Frankfort, Platte Bay, and Leland as First Mate for the well-known Captain Bob Hall (The Admiral) out of Leland and Northport. Since 1984 Captain John has owned and operated his own charter fishing boat -- INFINITY -- out of Leland's "Fishtown".

First Mate Jon, son of Captain John, grew up fishing with his dad on the Great Lakes and the rivers of Michigan. Jon's love for fishing may even exceed his dad's. He was a top Orvis guide in Breckenridge, CO for many years. Now that he is back in Michigan -- when not mating on the INFINITY -- he guides river float trips out of Northern Angler, Traverse City. He specializes in fly casting and spey casting, and is an expert fly tier.
Simply stated: Jon is a 24/7 expert fisherman!
And, when the crew is not fishing the Infinity.....
Both men are avid hunters. Captain John especially enjoys bow-hunting big game. "The antiquated style of the bow-hunt is a great physical challenge coupled with an opportunity unlike any other to learn and experience the woods and forests." Mate Jon prefers waterfowl and upland bird hunting with his wire-haired Griffon (Blue), having spent many years guiding hunts in Arkansas, Michigan, and Manitoba.
And, finally, there is the music...
Captain John has a 50+ year history as a classical and jazz trumpet & flugelhorn player. He has had his own acoustic jazz quartet for the past 25 years, and has played principal or lead with many world-renowned classical and jazz artists.
Son Jon is a jazz and rock drummer, and plays throughout the state -- if and when someone can tear him away from fishing.
